Why Choose Shade Sails for Your Outdoor Area?

Shade sails are a great choice for any outdoor area, especially if you need to choose between the sails and an awning, gazebo, pergola or other such roof feature. If you're in the market for some new accessories for your patio or deck, note a few advantages of shade sails versus any other option.

Colour

An awning may be painted a strong colour, but awnings are usually too small to really add visual interest to your patio or deck. Pergolas and gazebos may also look very attractive but are usually just stained wood, or they may be painted a simple colour like black or white. If you want some rusty red to match the brick of your home, a bright sunny yellow, or a watery blue colour in your outdoor space, a shade sail is the best option.

Fully adjustable

Shade sails can be pulled down at any end so that you can adjust the angles and slope of the sail. If you want to sit outside during a light rain, you can angle the sail to direct the rain away from you. You can also adjust the sail according to where the sun is sitting in the sky. Depending on the type you choose, you may also be able to roll up the shade sail and remove it completely when you want full sun exposure; other shade treatments are often permanent structures and cannot be moved so easily.

Portable

Not only are shade sails adjustable, but they are also often portable. Depending on the size of the sail, you can take it down and move it to another area of the property, or even take it with you when camping.

Maintenance and cleaning

Maintaining a wood structure like a gazebo or pergola can be difficult, time-consuming and expensive. The wood might need sanding and filling when it develops cracks, along with a fresh coat of paint or stain, and then also a fresh coat of sealant. You may need to get up on a ladder to clean an aluminium awning of dirt and other debris, and the metal may eventually begin to rust or bend and need repair or replacement.

Maintaining shade sails is often much easier; they may only need an occasional spot cleaning and the occasional mending of small tears, both of which can be done by a dry cleaner. This makes it very easy and affordable to maintain your shade sails and keep them in good repair.
